I don’t know about you but I steer clear of those store bought artificial color Easter egg kits, they are full of chemicals and toxins that have been linked to adverse behavior in children like hyperactivity. These are the same dyes that are banned in most countries, but somehow find their way into millions of Americans homes each year! It’s just really unfortunate.

This year I want to give you another option and a great opportunity to talk to your kids about food and the importance of where that food and the color of that food comes from. Below is a recipe I use in my home to dye Easter eggs naturally, and I hope you will give it a try!

How to Dye Easter Eggs Naturally

3 All Natural Easter Dyes

Blue Natural Easter Eye Dye
2 Cups purple cabbage, chopped
2 cups of water

Yellow Natural Easter Eye Dye
¾ Tbsp. Yellow turmeric powder
2 cups of water

Red Natural Easter Eye Dye
2 cups red beet, chopped
2 cups of water

Directions:

Boil your desired amount of eggs and set aside. Next in 3 different sauce pans add the 2 cups of water and then add cabbage to one of the pots, turmeric to another and beet to the last one. Bring to a boil and then cover and simmer for 30 minutes. After that strain liquid and add 1 tsp. of vinegar to each bowl. Place eggs in bowls and place in the refrigerator, the longer you keep them in the dye the darker the color will be.
